Piedrín is a site that considers contemporary artistic practices in, from, and around Guatemala. With essays, photographs, interviews, reviews, and studio visits, Piedrín is a collection of small pieces, a gesture toward building something in conversation with many voices.

In the current political climate of the Americas, Piedrín suggests that Guatemala's dynamic contemporary art communities can speak more than ever to the global exchanges that are most current, to the places and people who are moving through diasporic and post-war realities, and to the fluidity of borders and the politics of geography and the past in the historic present. Artists in Central America respond to a new contemporaneity, spark dialogues that resonate with other places, and offer significant propositions for the future, here and elsewhere.
